Till lately, I didn’t pay much attention to window treatments. My dad, who builds homes, doesn’t take care of them, so we all the time had naked windows growing up. After I set out on my own, moving from house to residence, I adopted no matter shades or blinds came with the place. It felt foolish to put money into a rental. It wasn’t until I found my current condominium that I was finally forced to pause. Plastic vertical blinds? Significantly?
They had been hideous, dated and out of place. They jangled with every breeze, offered next to no privacy and made my dwelling really feel like a seedy motel. Even worse, they had been reduce to four inches beneath the windowsill, leaving drag marks on the wall. They haunted me. After two months, my boyfriend and I caved and hired an area company to switch them with neutral curler shades that silently disappeared into discreet valances and forged a golden glow on our plants when the solar set. The whole investment, $600 for three large windows, was well price it. Just a few weeks later, our neighbors employed a handyman on TaskRabbit to change out their blinds, too. We questioned why altering them hadn’t occurred to us earlier.
